20 Carn View Terrace TR19 7DU
Ignore the “A” pin. Number 20 is the last but one from the bottom on the left. It is the one with the gable end facing the road, giving it a roof ridge in the shape of a T on its side. You can just make out the garden boundaries in the undergrowth. The vegetable garden of number 20, like the veg gardens of the neighbouring houses, has not been touched in years.
The road turns in to a path at the bottom where it turns east. The “road” on the left is really only a grassy path.
Like many houses in Cornwall the front faces away from the road.
The shed is in the back garden, which is across the road east of the house. It used to be a wash house and has a big Belfast sink and an outside loo. The old copper washing boiler has gone replaced by a 1940s style beige tiled fireplace! There are a couple more larger stone sheds further down the garden, quite big enough to store some water toys such as a sea kayak or a surf board. A picture of this shed appears in the Conservation Area documents see page 52 here (opens new window)
Once over the St Ives road the path to the beach starts of as a lane, then turns into a footpath down a valley with a small stream. This is the darker patch towards the top of the picture. It is about 20 minutes walk to the beach.
